Seems to be almost the time to use preemergent on your lawns to prevent unwanted weeds. Anyone practice this and what do you use? Im looking for something for warm season grass (south louisiana). My lawn is probably a mix of several different types.

Yes, if you want a weed-free lawn, it is very important to put it out before it warms up. Then put it down again in the fall to keep out winter weeds. It doesn't prevent all weeds but will keep out the tougher weeds like crabgrass. Makes keeping a weed-free lawn more manageable. You can go to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up a bag of 0-0-7 that works really well.

I'll put it out late this month, but I am in west alabama. I believe the correct answer is before soil temps reach 55 degrees consistently.

Put it out 2 weeks before you think you need to.

I’m thinking about this too. I’ve done Bonus S in the past. Not sure I know the difference.
