I zeroed my daughters .243 with Federal Premium Nosler Partitions in 100 gr.

three shot groups in a quarter at 100 yds.

That being said... she likes to shoot my .270 and killed her first deer last year using it and 165gr. Nosler Partitions

My friend in charge of our lease really doesn't want anyone shooting .243 because of the number of deer not recovered by hunters at a previous lease he managed that were shot with a .243

I'd say get the 100 gr. Federal if you can find it and you may do better...Sportsman's Warehouse in Slidell carries it.

Need to use Federal premium lead 100 grain
Bullet will go all the way through and leave a good exit wound. Noslar partisans won’t do that. I use a 243 as well.

Dumb. The Nosler Partition was the benchmark hunting bullet for damn near 50 years until Barnes X-bullets came out. 85 grainer will have no problem blowing through a whitetail it’s designed as a controlled expansion bullet for medium to large game.

Never had an issue with the 243 losing deer. Bang-flops with the berger bullets, but I wanted to try something with a little more penetration.

For those who reload, the Sierra 85 gr HPBT (1530) is Thor’s Hammer on deer and pigs. I’ve killed deer at 350 yds in my custom 6mm Rem.

This bullet was recommended to me 25 yrs ago by a gentleman from South Texas who had a crop depredation permit to shoot nuisance deer/hogs year round. He killed over 3000 animals in his lifetime as this was his bullet of choice.

Edited my post to reference what I meant.
Had to order these from Midway. Couldn’t find them at Academy. And no I’m not dumb.
