Anyone own/fish a glacier bay catamaran?

Been looking hard at boats online and am leaning towards a glacier bay cat in the 22-26 ft range. Posted on the hull truth and also awaiting acceptance into the glacier bay forum but figured it was worth a shot here. Really looking at the 2640 since i have little ones but still want to be able to head offshore. I can deal with the slow speed if the ride is as good as claimed. Just seeing if any of you OB offshore guys have experience with them.

Not a big fan of glaciers they're pretty shitty riding compared to twinvees, Ameracat, freeman, etc and they're also slower than king ranch running a marathon

Awesome when its calm because its essentially an offshore party barge, but has that "about to tip over" feeling in any seas more than 2 foot.
You dont want to take little kids offshore in a small boat when its rough anyway, so probably not a bad option with kids.

Yeah probably 80% of the time will be cruising and fishing trout around last island. Obviously wouldn't load the kids up and take it to blue water in any forecast that wasn't 1-2 or 1-3. To the previous poster i will concede that the Freeman is supposed to be the baddest cat out there however $100k won't even touch one on the used market. And while the twin-V and americat will be faster i don't think their ride is as smooth however i haven't ridden in any of them
Just hours and hours of reading online posts and watching videos. I can deal with the 25-28 mph cruise as it gives me more beer drinking time.
ETA: also 150's are much cheaper to feed and replace than 200+ hp outboard that most 26ft and over monohulls require.

world cats ride great
they make a nice dual console as well but i am really digging the L-shaped lounge seating for some reason. I have been looking at the World Cat 246 and 250 dual consoles. The world cat does seem to be more fishing orientated.

My friend has a 26' center console we take offshore several times a year. Its the only Cat Ive fished in but it rides pretty good from my experience.

What kind of cruise speed were ya'll making on the center console?

A twin vee rides WAYYYYYYYY better than a glacier just about every other cat does all a glacier bay is is a glorified pontoon rig which is fine until you get in a chop
Also a glacier should not be used in the same sentence as an Ameracat

a 26 twin vee does not ride better than a 26 glacier bay. Ya'll talking about the larger twin vees? Also, I had problems with various areas of my twin vee. If you aren't used to cats, I wouldn't buy any of them without riding. Some people don't like their tendencies, and you can't draw many parallels between the different makes. I've got a lot of days in most of them.

A 26' twinvee Is absolutely a better boat than a glacier bay

Ok, this is why I said ride them all and buy the one you are comfortable with. Twin vee made some horrible boats throughout their years, water intrusion into the sponsons/foam, and fuel tank issues. The tunnel is so low that it will bottom out on most choppy days in the gulf (26fter). Scott copied their design when he came up with the original ameracats. So take everything I just said, and compound that by a guy who has built a lot less boats. They are faster, and the 29/32 are much nicer. The glacier bay has tons of storage, nice gunnels for offshore, a high tunnel, and is the definition of offshore efficiency. With the extended tanks, I'm not sure the average budget (under $40K) could afford a nicer boat for Louisiana. 31 contender would be close if you could find a deal.

I do not like that design at all because it would be almost impossible to go offshore in anyone over 2s due to the seating and no standing
My dad's friend has a 26 Glacier Bay CC. It is not as wide as other cats but its a decent boat. Will get the job done.
But I definitely recommend the CC
look at the 26 Twin Vees

Glaciers rock side to side ALOT and if it's something you're not used to you won't like them

The gunnels are just too low on the twin v. Now the newer ones are definitely better than the one in the link but not finished to the level of world cat or glacier bay IMO. I thought i had found a deal on a 25' seacat SL5 in bourg but it was sold by the time i found it and called. Personally i like a cc but with the wife and kids are driving the purchase more than my fishing desire so it will have to be a compromise boat. I can't expect the 6yr old much less the 4 or two year old to hang onto a T-top while running 35 mph +

but I would love to see a video/picture of these people after this boat comes down

I agree at first but they really arent that bad.. especially for diving

I reread your original post, I would advise you away from the 22 glacier bays. They don't have the positives I mentioned above.

That seems to be the trend on other sites as well. Really is a shame as they are considerably cheaper

yeah hat i would love to see a second photo of that boat coming down as well. There is some great footage of a new 2740 GB running off of the FL keys in some sloppy seas. I believe the hulls are pretty much the same on the 200-2010 2640 as the newer 2740 but good luck getting a used 2740 for under $80k.
2740 running in 3-5 ft seas
I think it is more 3-4's

35-38 with twin 150's
