I did vodka and brandy. 2 lbs of cherries and 2 cups of sugar. It’s not the worst I’ve had but it will mess you up. Very strong. How can I cut the vodka taste

i went with 3.5-4 lbs cherries and 1 cup sugar
How can I cut the vodka taste
my boiunce isnt going to be ready until november, but im thinking the same thing.
i tried marichino cherries and smashed all the juice and mixed that straight with vodka to drink just like that and while it was "ok" for just being cherry flavored vodka, it was still harsh.
i tried adding a bottle of cherry cough syrup to it and its much better but still has a very harsh after taste.
im guessing the bounce will turn out that way too.
try making it with fireball whiskey instead of vodka and im told it taste like chocolate covered cherries.
im doing my own version with regular whiskey that i added brown sugar and cinnamon to. im also doing a batch with regular port wine which is how its normally done in the old days and you add yeast to it
im finding out it has to taste ok as is before you use it if you want it to taste good at the end. start harsh and it ends harsh

Make it with Bourbon. Taste much better that way anyway.

I made 2 gallons with vodka.
Pitted Cherries from the Winn Dixie in Covington. 4 bags
1/2 bag per quart mason jar.
Filled with Vodka.
Aging now.
I did not want them sweet. If they need some help, I can cut the Bounce with simple syrup in November.
I want to make some with Bourbon next.
