I'm looking for a female black lab puppy. Anyone know of any? Not looking for a champion pedigree, just a family dog for the most part.

Check Louisiana Sportsman. There are always tons on there especially if pedigree doesn't matter to you.

should be pretty easy to find one if you are not looking for field trials or hunting bloodlines...

Even though it will be a house dog I would still consider a dog from a reputable breeder. I used to bred high end labs and as a breeder both male and female had to have at least eyes and hips certified to a standard. Also I and most reputable breeders will give a health guarantee on pups, stay away if you don't get one.

Be cautious about the phrase "champion bloodline" it is a catch phrase and just about meaningless. You want the mother and father to be champions not 3, 4 or 5 generations back.

They have show dogs. Also field trial champion's beautiful dogs. Between me my dad and brother we have 6.

I've always bought trailer trash dogs.

First paid 50 for and she is now 11. Was a beast in her prime finding dead or wounded

Second a yellow lab. Low on drive but performs well enough in the field I still take him. He has also been pheasant hunting twice. Picked it up real well and has hell a nose on him. Paid 150 for him

Third I picked up from a "breeder" for 350. She has been pretty kick arse. Black female also.

Needless to say, learn about the breeder and his dogs and you can get a good lab affordable
