And then installed something like Hydroturf or SeaDeck instead of carpet?

Just wonder how hard is it to remove the carpet residue before adding the new deck material and if boat compartments leaked afterwards.

I have, it depends on how dried out the glue is. Mine was pretty dried up around the edges and I was able to scrape it off with putty knife but everywhere else I had to sand and grind that shite off. You're worried about leaks around the screws for the lid struts?

I have. Giant PITA. Researched it and bought a case of Goo Be Gone or something like that. Pulling up the carpet is a breeze. The glue is another story. Bro in law and I started one afternoon on the glue. 18" x 18" spot we saturated with the disolving stuff. One hour later, we weren't close to finishing the first area. Ended up paying a guy $300 to remove it. He ended up having to grind it all off.

It's freaking horrible. You have to sand it all off.

Did this to a bass boat I owned. Sucked. So many hours of sanding glue......
