Chain link fence is easy. I was surprised how easy it went up after doing it for the first time. Get all your posts set and top rail in. We would attach the chain link to one corner post, and then a tension tool like this to the other end.

Pull the whole run tight with a 4 wheeler or comealong or tractor or something, then go down the line and tie it off.

Rather than using a fence stretcher I used one of those wood clamps that pull boards together.

A nylon ratchet strap in your truck box works great. I bought a three hook spreader bar from Lowes, but one could be made from a 2x4 and some screw hooks very easily.

It's not too difficult, I did 800' or so over two weekends.

For stretching I found a cable come-along with a chain designed with two hooks that attaches to a tension bar in the fence. Worked really well even for a one man crew.

Ordered materials to knock out 65' privacy and 300' this weekend. Rented a hydraulic auger to help with the 47 posts I have to set.

Does anyone have a general rule of thumb on how long you can have stretches between terminal posts. I have two 100' runs and another that is 130'. Any forseen issues with the 130' run?

I wouldn’t stretch it with tractor.Use a come-a-long,can use tractor as anchor. It’s easy to put too much tension with tractor.I found this out the hard way.

I had 100ft + runs on the two sides of my back yard and probably 200 on the back run. Sides I didn’t use corner post except on the corner. I split the difference on the back with a gate that I used 2 larger(corner post) on. I bought one of those fence stretchers with the hooks on it and used my four wheeler winch to tighten it up.
