I haven't slept in Pass a Loutre, but I have camped out a couple of times on Biloxi WMA. You basically just need to find a man-made canal to camp next to, because the banks are much higher than on the natural marsh. Mosquitos were not an issue because it was cold, and we didn't have any problem finding enough wood for a campfire. We did bring a propane stove to cook on, however. All in all, it was worth it to not have to make an hour drive back to the landing, (not to mention whatever car ride you needed to get to your hotel or camp) and to be able to get up not too long before shooting hours.

P.S. you're not supposed to camp outside of the designated camping areas, so do so at your own risk.
