I know katskinz and similar products have been discussed here before, and a good bit on the truck forums. But I noticed you can get new ones on eBay for like 500 and most truck shops I've come across charge 1000 plus for them and install. I can't imagine its that difficult going off of youtube videos.

I had a friend do it a couple years ago in a mustang. Said it wasnt bad.

FWIW, when ford was doing that free leather promo a while back katskinz were installed. Looked good to me.

Ahh thanks. I see a few people on youtube doing it, but I also see a lot of videos of shops or the actual installers doing it so I figured it might not be the simplest of tasks. And yes, I've read about a few different dealerships of all the big 4 trucks offering a katskinz upgrade when you buy the truck. I don't mind cloth, the leather just looks way better and is easier to clean.

Difficult, no. Time consuming, yes. Which do you have more of time or money?

Good point, I have seen the general consensus is that its just a pain in the arse and takes a while. Good point.

Ya, the little I know about doing seat covers is that put the cover in the sun and let ot expand and then attempt to put them on the seat.

Yeh a buddy has them, and from that and pictures online they look awesome. Not to mention my cloth seats are all fricked from mud and dirt that has basically stained them beyond repair. Might be better off just ignoring it, but idk the katskinz just look awesome and would definitely be easier to clean. Thanks for the input baws.

Guy at work did it.

Took his truck seats out and put in his shop.

Took the new seat covers and put them inside his truck layed out in the sun all day in June/July.

Got home from work that afternoon late and started putting them on. He'd go get the piece he needed one at a time. Said the heat really helped stretch the leather.

I have an 18' f150 crew cab. I installed katskinz myself. As previously mentioned it was not very difficult but it was very time consuming.

I ordered mine from here:

installed them in a gmc sierra. found the head rest to be the hardest part, everything else wasn't bad. the leather was nice and soft though, much better than the oem GM leather imo.

If you can afford it, hire a professional. They will do it right the first time. jmo

Thanks, ill check it out. I have a buddy that I've known since before t-ball has a truck shop so I may could get him to install it for a few hundred if I bought the katskinz separate but I wanted to gauge how difficult it was before hand. Thanks for the heads up on the sun/heat stretching it. Then again, I've been known to frick things up so paying for install may not be the biggest waste of money. Thanks guys.

ETA: damn I didn't realize they made some of the crazy looking ones. Thanks for the link.
