I know that Evinrude is out of business, but are the engines any good, how is the service on them ongoing, how are the warranties covered?

The engines are great. Service is currently still great. I wouldn't pass a really good deal on one.

They are good motors but like you said, they are out of business. How many businesses are gonna invest in paying for training for their mechanics to work on them. How many in 5 years or 10 years? And how hard will it be to get parts in the future and at what price?

If would have to be an unbelievably good deal for me to buy one.

I have a G2 200HO and it’s a strong motor so far. Are you looking at the 150HO (v6) or a standard 150 (inline 3)? Avoid the DPS steering if possible, that’s where most of the problems come from. Make sure you have a tech that was trained on a G2, not all dealers were.

was the dps an option or is it simply part of the system?

Any ideas as to what a good deal is right now on the 150 HO and rigging, I would assume they have some pretty awesome deals to get them all gone.

DPS was mandatory on all the big block V6 G2’s but on the small block like the 150 your looking at, they came both ways. I don’t think you can remove DPS from a motor that has it but I could be wrong. Yeah, I’d imagine you could get a good deal if you can find a dealer that still has some in stock.
