WTF is wrong with these charter captains? A redfish will burn up an electric knife? Please

they probably got it for free in return to say that its the best and only way to clean sheeps and reds
Absolutely they did. I can understand the whole artificial bait giving to guides to pimp slant but this thing is just over the top. Marty Lacoste is pretty much posting weekly about this thing on FB.

I hate cleaning them. I'm good with a knife and cooking, but have always butchered them. It is really good eating as well.
I posted this awhile back in another thread. Try this method out. I'll try to get a video next time I'm cleaning a red or sheephead.

Get a serrated dexter and clean it with that. I clean sheepshead just like reds. Start by slicing right between the top of the scales and the dorsal fin. Then you can just start slicing away right against all the bones and leave no meat to spare. Easiest way I've found

I know this guy pretty well. He guides bowfishing trips, so yea he has to clean alot of redfish. The videos are quite impressive.

Dularge captains sure do love putting there clients on sheepshead lately, they are robbing people for paying to catch those. Guess these paying customers need a lot of imitation crabmeat to eat back home.
That whole crew of guides that are associated with the reel inn are some weird dudes.

I used a guide a few years ago who used a reciprocating saw with a custom-made blade to clean our black drum. It was awesome, and made short work of those pesky scales.

Would a serrated blade work better?

This isn't something new. Ive used one of these for a few years now. I saw a video on you tube. I think it was called home depot filet knife

Reel in. Just leases the lifts to a bunch of different guides. They don't all work for or even utilize the Reel inn.
Been a tough winter in Dukarge and Sheephead are spawning. Guides are paid to catch fish and put meat in freezer. Can't blame them for loading up with sheep vs catching nothing.
As for the saw idea, my neighbor made one of these a couple years ago with the hand held recip. Used the recip blade for a pattern and cut regular filet blades down to fit. Not rocket science

Has anyone ever tried one? I tried it once but the blade moves too fast even on the lowest speed. You start on one side the fish then end up through the cutting board.

My neighbor did that first few times he used it as well
Said it takes getting used to but works once you get it down.
I'd be careful selling modified blades unless a fatigue analysis was done on the steel to ensure failure doesn't happen.

A machine shop has the tools to make these fairly easy
I made two of these yesterday. All I used was a metabo cutting wheel, and carbide bit for the hole. Took all of 10 min
Made them for a buddy who is a guide
