This is Poplarville MS area, good deer for these parts, only see him at night though

2.5 yo, needs another year (or two)...quality young 6 pt with growth potential

It’s a young buck (3 years old); his tarsal glands are still lighter colored.

Easy to think 2.5 but that’s a piney woods 3.5 all day, but a very good looking one. He’ll be a really nice deer if he makes it another couple years. Have a place not far from there and they all lag about a year behind in development from hill or delta deer.

Thank yall, I was thinking 3.5 as well, deer are just smaller here. Hope he survives another year, although if I get a shot this year I'll probably take it.

2.5-3 would be my guess and you are right about the deer in the area not being overly large. I hunt the southern edge of Poplarville and while we get some width and decent time length you don’t see much mass or body weights over 200



For reference this deer is 2.5-3 as I had him on camera last year as a basket rack 7 pt the short lower jaw makes him easy to id
