Dog is only 2 years old, but has some browning on his back teeth. His front teeth are pearly white. Last time the vet saw him, he said the teeth would have to be cleaned eventually to ensure their safety, but that the situation only required monitoring for the time being. That was only two weeks ago, and now he’s lost a tooth. And it doesn’t look like it was from chewing anything hard or any sort of external trauma.

How serious could brown teeth resulting in a lost tooth in a 2-year old dog be?

How bad is his breath? Tooth issues from plaque will have a symptom of really bad breath.

Are his teeth loose? The plaque will cause bone degradation that results in his teeth getting loose the falling out.

But two sounds really young for that.

Also, if it not too far gone you can chip the plaque off the teeth. They don’t like it by it can be done.

His breath is pretty bad. It’s not as bad as I’ve experienced with some dogs, but it’s still noticeably odorous.

No different that people teef, some good some bad. Size of mouth is a factor as is size of kibble you’re feeding and some just have filthy teef. Cleanings are usually $175 and last a year or two. I use science diet td for teeth cleaning snacks between cleanings also.
