My part is absolutely true. In a way I wish Nico's was. I could have a great time reliving that morning on here. I left some of the details out but it was hilarious.

Yeah I was hoping for there to be some truth which would catapult this thread to OB epicness.

my best advice is to scout a little bit, find a spot far enough from established blinds ( people who have been there 10+ years tend to get pissed and rowdy when you are remotely close to them).

If you build some sort of blind, brush it up with A LOT of branches, wax myrtles, willows, shite that stays green. you can never have too much.

A good pile of decoys always helps too.

and like everyone else said, stay still, keep low and dont call much until you know how. get some kind of duck whistle that you can call a lot of stuff with.

good luck and

Get you a decent single reed duck call, and hit up your local ponds/golf courses w/ducks and practice calling on a bench or something nearby. Thats one of the best ways to learn to call and actually watch the ducks' reactions to what you're doing. If they come to you there, they will come to you in the blind.

Also, frick a feed call, just learn to quack and get you a little peep whistle and you'll be golden. Dudes that walk around with 16 different duck calls are chodes.

They have a couple WMA's in Avoyelles. I could point you in the right direction if you so desire.

i'd go to PAC but then again i'm not familiar with anything north of BR

Would appreciate that. This would most likely be in a kayak. if not, a little flat boat.
