Question for anyone who has bought an 80% lower receiver. How long did it take you to mill out rest of lower? Is it worth it? Thinking about buying 3 80% lowers, jig, to mill out. Like idea of what they represent.

I want to say a couple of hours to mill a lower with a router. Maybe 3. I took my time though. I think I went 1/32nd at a time when milling out the FCP.

I have the 5D Tactical jig and it works great. Takes less than an hour (once you get set up) and it works with a router. I'd buy this one again and get their end mill bit for the router. When it's finished it really looks like a CNC milling machine did the work.

Stay away from the kind that you have to use with a drill press and drill 40 holes.

I bought these lowers in a 20 pack (buddy and I went together) and I think we gave $449 for them a few years ago, they were labeled as "blems" but you can't see any imperfections at all.

Do NOT get one that you mill out with drill bits. The ones that use router bits are the best/easiest.

I used a trim router

This is what I have found. It comes as a package.. with 3 lowers.. I feel even if I took my time, I would get better with each mill out. Looks to have router in kit, not drill press as mentioned on here. Seems to have good reviews. Can also mill out AR10 in addition to AR15..

I think I have that jig. I know I have two from that company and they’re very good.

Bought the second because I did a 9mm build and it wouldn’t fit my first jig.

Mine from 5D does both, I paid way less for my jig and 20 lowers but did have to buy a router(pawn shop purchase). Like previously said I would look around some, that price is crazy high IMHO.

nothing wrong with borrowing a tool to finish out a lower yourself.

I think it's just the times.. everything is much higher.. seeing 5.56 for almost a buck a round is crazy. Bought some few weeks ago for .50 cents.

This may be true if you're working with aluminum lowers, but I've had great success milling polymer lowers with a drill press and a cross slide vice.
