2 weeks straight at my home lake

I'm taking the 5th wheel out to the lake for the next 2 weeks just to fish and get away from the house. My goal is to fish every day for the next 14 days straight.
The bad part is the lake is turning over, so the summer pattern that I've been nailing them on is over. Will be working topwaters in shallow water for over sized stripers and then about 30' deep in 40 ish fow for box fish while having to weed through drinks.
Then drift cut bait with planer boards for big blues. I'm probably about 2 weeks too early for the trophy sized blues, but I'm going to try it because I really enjoy catching those 60+ lbers. I know how to catch the big ones, it just comes down to being in the right place at the right time. Texoma still holds the Texas record and used to own the US record (Cody Mullenix is the man). I use 3 oz drifting weights, 8/0 hooks, planer boards to get a great spread and demon dragons on the leader above the hook and do drifts at .5-.7 mph.

For you baws that want to drag/drift for catfish, it's a lot of fun and the best way to catch blues. Flatheads are better anchored up on structure, but we don't have any flatheads worth a shite on Texoma, so dragging for big blues is the way to go.
Anyway, the 2 keys are dragging weights to prevent/mitigate snags and planer boards. Great way to "passive" fish, enjoy the nice fall weather, drink some beer and catch some big ones.
It can be done on most rivers and reservoirs . It was also my go to when I used to fish catfish tournaments on the Tennessee, Ohio, Missouri and Mississippi (between St Louis and North of Memphis) Rivers.

I've never caught a striper. How do they fight? Any good to eat?

Stripers an Hybrids fight like a mother. But if you really want a fight, bone fish on fly rod in Bahamas flats

I’m only a fan of catch and release in freshwater, I do know the shark that was chasing the frick out of the bonefish I had hooked thought it was tasty. But I got it in through the mangroves before he could taste it. Fun fishing

Stripe bass will pull your arse in the water. Not even joking.

Stripers taste great, if you remove the red meat. If someone ever says striper is meh, they didn't remove it correctly.
There's a slick way of grabbing it with your thumb and forefinger and just ripping it out. My wife does that, so I'm not 100% proficient at it like she is.

Saturday was about the worst day I've had since April. Managed a largemouth and 4 stripers on a pencil popper then nothing. I did catch a dozen or so decent catfish from 10-11 just messing around and threw them back.
Today was a different story. My wife and I had our striper limit by 8:15 am (10 per/20 total. The stripers have put on weight recently as the water temps have dropped to 80 degrees.
When looking for topwater action on a sandy flat, I noticed a nice shad ball on the electronics and threw in them. Caught some nice gizzard shad, one of which was 13" long. He's on ice and will be cut bait for a bug blue if things go well.

Stripers fight hard. But a hybrid fights harder. A 5 lb hybrid will feel like your pole will break.

What are you using for top water?

Are you using live shad here?
It is hard for me to drop my line right where I want it in 30+ feet of water and yes I am using active target. I usually stay around 20 feet when I spot Stripers on side scan. But of course my last two trips I found large mouth hanging out in deep water and stopped striper fishing to catch them with a drop shot.

I use Cordell Pencil poppers in blue back or Heddon Super Spook in bone. Walk the dog.
My wife can't walk the dog so I give her a Berkeley Choppo or R2S Whopper Plopper.

[/img] That's the damage from this morning. Don't Haye on the two tiny cats, they're for my bulldog. She lives small catfish.
