Only difference is the stocks and barrel finish. Any rec's?
stock and finish its all about what you prefer...doesnt matter at all. Just priced different the prettier they are ha. I do recommend the bull "heavy" barrel though. Mine is stainless, but that makes no difference in the shooting...just what you like.

You think a fixed 4x32 would be fine or would you opt for the variable?
dont get a fixed, but dont get the 20x50..i recommend the bsa sweet 17 scope in 4x16x40. With that said a 4x12x40 scope would be fine also.

sweet 17
I have that one you linked on my 17 mach 2
and i have the 4x16 on my 17hmr....i like the 4x16 better, just has more zoom. Cant beat the scope for the price tho man on those little 17s, dont have to worry about recoil messing them up.

Nope, no recoil at all, my wife loves shooting it, it makes her look like an expert markswomen

Yea really, i put mine on the lead sled and she can drill the bullseye as long as she can see it in the scope ha

i think i'll go with the simple Savage 93R17 FV or the FVSS(stainless)
"93R17FV - This .17 HMR features a black synthetic stock under a blued receiver and heavy varmint barrel. No sights; scope bases installed. "
and the 3 - 12x40 Sweet 17
Thanks for the help guys. You've helped my compulsiveness. might order a few of these
while i'm at it

Good choice! You will be happy, now just buy one box of each ammo to find out which yours likes the best haha. They are picky "if your a perfectionist" like i am when shooting.
Mine-Loves the winchester silver tips
Cousins-loves federals
Dads-loves winchesters also
Not many like hornadys i know
Friend shoots remingtons
good luck thats the fun part

I've shot the hornadys, federals, and winchesters, the hornadys shoot the best for me

My wife got it for me for Christmas. I was pretty pumped

I have laminated wood stock myself...they are pretty and look good but heavy as hell! especially in bull barrel. Synthetic would be much lighter to carry around
Posted on 4/3/12 at 3:07 pm to VolsFan24
Mine is very heavy, but I don't do any off hand shooting so it doesn't bother me at all

well then maybe i'll stick with the synthetic since i plan on using this for varmint and off hand shooting
