I got two 120 lb sows that way last year with a 308 but that was a longer less steep shot. This would be a 20 yard shot from a 15ft ladderstand.

I don't see any way to vary the pattern size without changing guns, chokes/barrels or distance.

I say take a buddy and give it the old three count (and come back and post pics of the carnage)

Only way to change your pattern is to use an o/u.

Over a long range I could predict change with different loads but only 20 yrds out I was thinking I wouldnt see an appreciable difference. I may experiment this weekend some to see what I can get with different loads with the same setup and distance.

Oh and I WILL get pics of the carnage!

Shoot the mom first and the piglets won't know what to do and probably won't move...then take out the piglets

I wish I was there to help.

I think the answer to your question is "no". Although there are slight variations in pattern sizes for different size shot or even different brands with the same size shot from the same gun/choke, using different size shot isn't going to meet your objective. The group size is determined by the choke constriction and not what shot you're using.

But if the pigs are only 20-25 yds out max, you should do fine shooting 00 buckshot out of a cylinder or IC choke. For the piglets it might be helpful to have more pellets in your pattern, so you could go with slightly smaller shot like #1 or #4 buckshot. Once you decide, go shoot some paper targets to see where it centers the pattern vs. your point of aim and also confirm you are getting a decent shot distribution. I'm guessing the pattern spread will be 30-35".

I'd also suggest you not to try to fire into the group in the hope of hitting multiple piglets but instead pick out individual targets.

Oh, yeah - I'd shoot the 24" SBE.

There were 5 sows 3 weeks ago. I bagged the one with the largest tits (kinda like HS) and the little bastards ran eveywhere. Some stopped right at the edge of the brush while other followed the remaing 4 sows. I couldnt cycle the bolt on the 308 fast enough to get a second sow.

Thats why I want to spray them with shot.

I wont get many oppurtunities at this stand to get them until they wise up and move to a differnt part of the lease.

Hell if I could get them to stand still I would throw a cast net over them and knock em all in the head but that aint happening.

I have 8x4 trap taht has been sitting rigged with corn in it for the last 3 weeks but no pigs. I need to move it to a better spot but I see no reason to miss an oppurtunity to lay havoc on them in the meantime.

I haven't had to do any of this, but my uncle puts a molasses mixture on top of his corn. I went and shot 3 in the trap for him last year. He hasn't tried this year. Also, I hear that fermented corn works the best. They'll be smelling that shite for miles. It just won't hold up in the rain

Kill the sows and the piglets should hang around.

Are there any slugs that will damage the guns? The SBE would be borrowed.
