You must not do much littoral fishing. There's so many sharks in the gulf that you can stop a boat anywhere within 20 miles, drop a fish head on a hook and catch a shark within 5 minutes.

When I was young, we took a vacation to the Bahamas. The resort had a long dock which had a fenced in aquarium attached to it with nurse sharks, rays and the like. Every night there would be scores of college kids fishing for sharks off the dock. The afternoon we got there they hauled in a huge shark, maybe 8'. We snorkeled around that area every day, but before the tide came in. I asked the guy that rented the snorkel equipment why did we have to return the stuff early in the afternoon. He said when the tide comes in, so do the sharks. I said, no problem with that. The last night we were there they caught a 15', 1500lb hammerhead. CSB.
