It is the nation's worst offshore oil spill. The well has spewed between 89.3 million and 176.4 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, according to federal estimates. The Exxon Valdez spilled about 11 million gallons.

I have actually gotten numb to this whole thing. It was shocking at first but now does it really matter how much has been spilled?

I always get a good chuckle out of estimates with that wide a range and yet three digits of precision. It's like the weatherman saying tomorrow will have a high somewhere between 35.3 and 73.4 degrees.

Hey, at least we know the spill isn't 176.5 million gallons, that would be really bad news.
