will not significantly decrease oil production since there will still be other operating wells

orly? Where? ANWR? The East Coast? The Florida coast? California? Canadian Tar Sands? All blocked by the enviros.

You should apply for a job with BHO's DOE or public affairs team if you really believe that crap you just wrote. Do you think oil companies are chasing oil in 5000' of water, at a TREMENDOUS expense, because they would rather spend all that money instead of producing elsewhere? Wow.

Incorrect. It was thought by this originally, but when a shallow water well got a permit, the White House came down with the quickness and said ALL offshore drilling is banned for at least 6 months.

Volvagia, Shallow water drilling is not banned.

drilling

there are new rules going into effect though.

quote:

Before beginning any new drilling, companies must certify that their blowout preventers work, be ready to conduct at least two tests of cement barriers in underwater wells and follow new casing installation procedures on wells.

we shall see how it plays out.....

Guess I stand corrected....what I must have seen was them stopping drilling till they could get the new safety requirements in place.

FYI, Tahiti (deepwater production platform) produces more oil than the entire OCS.
