Moratorium idles more than rigs

Sobering look at the effects of the Moratorium. Fairly long read but worth it.
Moratorium in wake of Gulf oil spill idles much more than rigs, workers

quote:
While the moratorium is being contested in court, universities, industry groups and investment banks are producing calculations trying to understand what will happen if 33 deepwater drilling rigs go idle.
quote:
Among many analysts there is early consensus on this: Although President Barack Obama's shut-down order is nominally for six months, the legislative and rule-writing process it will invoke means that realistically businesses should expect it will be a year or more before it is lifted -- and longer yet before deepwater rigs resume operations.
quote:
But Hecht is among those saying that a year-long moratorium would be a game-changer, bursting out of the 1 percent fishing sector into the rest of the state economy.
By contrast, mining -- a large chunk of it offshore deepwater drilling idled by the White House moratorium -- is 16 percent of the state economic pie.
"You pull 10,000 workers out of the economy, that may be like shutting down five car plants in Detroit," Tulane's Smith said. "If not five, whether five or three or whatever, it's several major plants."

The supreme C--ksucker knew what he was doing when he ordered the moratorium. To you fellows who were making good money, he said he will take care of you on unemployment, until it runs out. Then you will be on your on. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER

When we run these jackasses out in November, is there anything Congress can do to get the moratorium lifted? These jackasses are in no hurry to lift, I just hope like hell in the near future something causes gas to spike and make the anti-oil people feel the hurt.

It will likely be too late, but I sure hope not. My understanding is some drill rigs have already left. They will be going to place that Obama actually has a vested interest in... BRAZIL. Don't know if that is true but I did read that about Obama's investments over there.
But the problem is after the moratorium is lifted what good will it do. There are not enough drilling rigs to go around. Why would they come back. It cost money to move from Brazil to the GOM! And they will already be under contract to some other place somewhere else around the globe.
Can you imagine what would happen if a relief well is required to drill along side any well drilled offshore, like some people are proposing. Hmmmm.... An oil company can employ two rigs to tap two different reservoirs or it can imploy two drill rigs to tap one reservoir. Hmmm doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the oil companies will stop drilling wells in the gulf when they can drill twice as many in Africa and Brazil.

Spare me. I would be willing to bet you have interest in Brazil...and don't even know it.

I read it don't know if it is true. Said that in my post.

Whatever, while most of us have a vested interest, I'm sure obama and his cohorts have a more direct heinous connection.

Forgive Kickadawgitfeelsgood, he's just doing his job as a brainless puppet to support Obama.

Why in the hell can't we do something to bring national attention to this BS? obama is killing American jobs at a time when most of our country is struggling, yet we want to turn a blind eye to it. I said it before and I'll say it again, everyone has a vested interest in running these crooks out of power. Even if you're not in one of the industries these crackpots have attacked and villainized yours may be next. I said this during the healthcare debate when he villanized doctors and insurance companies, then he came after the bankers.....If you make money in this country and you're not dependent on the government there is no need for you. Makes you wonder why a productive person would want to remain here.
