I'm tired of hearing this shite. This state was immediately in danger. Louisiana has the jurisdiction from 3 miles in when it comes to the Gulf. He has every right to try to protect our state and he has failed miserably. Just like Obama. They're pretty much one in the same when it comes to this spill.

What has he done to be considered a "helluva governor"?
He's been hypocritical from the very beginning with all his ethics reform bullshite. Not to mention he promised a translucent government and he's been everything but.
The first time we saw BJ after the spill was on April 29 when he declared the state of emergency. That was almost 2 weeks after the spill.
My impression of Jindal is much different. From what I have seen he has been getting things done, or at least doing everything within the power of his office to get things done. His response to this incident has been much improved then La politicians of the past and that is TRUTH.

the 1st day it wasnt putting oil into the water cause it was all being burnt off
once the rig went over the polution started
no one knew exactly how much or where the oil was going to go
if he would have gone all out and but up booms and all and the well have been shut off right away everyone would have bitched about the waste of money. there is no way to win if youre him, or any other person in his shoes

Your hatred for Jindal is obvious, but here is a link with a few facts instead of conjecture. It looks like Jindal responded in less than a week from when leak was reported and the oil slick was still in federal waters(or farther).

Your link doesn't mention Jindal until April 29th, which is what I already said.

this is the kicker, it was federal water, he had no jurisdiction. As soon as it entered LA water, he declared the SOE

Is that a picture of yourself in the avatar? You must have been a caller into the Buddy D show in the 90s.

I just showed you there was no mention of a spill until the 23rd. The 29th is not 2 weeks after the 23rd. Also, the leak was still in 10 miles from LA waters. Your posts make it sound like Jindal did not respond until the oil hit Grand Isle. Is your grandfather or father in the Federal Prison in Texas?

Gotcha.
FWIW, It's not that I hate Jindal. I hate that he's given a fricking pass on everything.

FWIW after Blanco, ANYONE would get a pass on most things

No doubt. Aunt Kathy will always be a blemish on this state.

I voted for Jindal, but I don't like any politician that cuts education.

well that only bolsters the argument that BJ was doing everything he could, FWIW

Declaring a state of emergency is just protocol. What he should have been doing is lining things up and getting ready to send BP or the Feds the fricking bill. Everyone is sitting back waiting for the other to take control. It's Katrina all over again.

Please read the April 30th update posted above. If you open the link there is more information on each date.

If you really look at your link there are huge gaps when pretty much nothing is being done. A few booms here and there were like trying to put a fricking ace bandage on the leaking pipe.

What do you think, boom and skimmers are in the vending machine down the hall. Is all of this stuff free? Does Jindal have an unlimited expense account to purchase these items and pay for their deployment? And just because we all think BP should pay does not make it so. In other words is it fiscally responsible to deploy assets(if you have them) using state funds if you don't know you will get paid back?

In this case yes. The financial burden that could have been passed on to BP/Feds is NOTHING when compared to how this spill will affect our state in the long run. We're talking decades for the fishing industry and permanent job loss for thousands. That dollar amount will be far worse I'm afraid.

Jindal is owning the feds right now!
Louisiana will miss him and we will back to good old politics when Jindal's term is up.
