Why would they be trying to keep quiet the fact that they had fixed the problem? Sorry - this whole "cap off, cap on" thing reeks of BP BS.
Have they not figured out how to resolve the jump cut between the feed with the altered time stamp and the actual current footage? Is it now even worse than before (use whichever "before" you like... the list is long)?
