Now that the pipe is cut somewhat square why not just make a coupling that fits around the 21" diameter pipe and snaps on (something like THIS) Then on the other side of the coupling have a ball valve that can be closed once the fitting is secured. You could even lower the whole thing with the ball valve connected to the pipe from the surface tanker in case the valve fails. What say the genius minds of the oil rig disaster forum?

FWIW they did just try to cap the flow with several thousand tons of mud and the pressure of the oil just blew it all right back out. Called "Top Kill" or something like that ...

I personally like my idea about a screw clamp and some poly pipe.

I had the best idea ever and no one will listen.

Everyone in the US needs to chew 5 packs of hubba bubba bubble gum and send it to Fourchon. Once all of the gum has been put on a barge. They could use bulldozers to make it into one huge ball. Sent the ball out to the enterprise and jam it down the hole with an ROV. There was an expert on MSNBC who said he stopped a blow out by jamming an ROV down the well. This will work.

Once they locate the key to the V door they plan to drop the sky hook.

Ohh how I have seen so many worms looking for that key.

I could have used a sky hook a few dozen times.

I've seen a few climb the ladder to chase the woodpeckers out the derrick too. Can't get away with that and doping people anymore.
