I was in GI all weekend and the are putting booms across baratatia and caminada pass so you really cant pass through with a recreation boat. We also fished Elmers island and it looked like the national guard was actually back filling some of the tidal flows that enter elmers island. They had about 8 dozers pushing sand across the cuts. I watched a guy come in from an offshore trip and his boat was coated in oil on the lower half of it. He said he hit oil about 20 miles south of the pass. Fishing was very slow in the surf also nut that was expected this early in the year.

was in Grand Isle as well.

Came threw Baratatia Pass Saturday and did not see any booms in place.

According to the new map they have up most of the fishing in the GI area will be off limits
I posted this in several threads to get the word out..

I am planning on going inshore for redfish next Sunday down in Venice w/ a guide. Will I still be able to go? I am from South FL so I'm not that familiar with the fishing areas down there.
