Right so which of their high IQ engineers came up with the "lets just throw trash and mud down there" idea?

you do realize there is an actual science behind this right, ahh who am i kidding, you're probably one of the now millions of oil field experts. man how could i forget about that.

How about this idea. A soft cofferdam made of industrial strength plastic that is tied to the BOP valve and runs all the way to the surface. Boom the oil off at the surface and pump it into oil tankers.

This was close to an idea i was thinking of. Basically funneling via a (for lack of a beter phrase) curtian to the top. all of the oil would come to one general area at the surface to suck up. Can someone with some expertise comment on this idea.

the idea of a giant fabric/curtain tube localizing the spill at one point on the surface seems to have merits, but seems way over simplified. Besides, booming that much oil at that pace may be more problematic than just using a dispursant to sink/hide it.

I'm sure it has to have a reason why it won't work, for the same thing you said, because it seems too easy.

My personal thoughts are we should try everything as opposed to the dispursants since there is so much dispute with it. I have no true sicience to back up my feelings, but adding all those toxins cant be a good thing, and my gut tells me all it is doing is keeping the oil below the surface out of the camera's view. I hope to God I am wrong, but that is my feeling.
