Think of any family vacation you've been on. Pissed, hot, angry at lines, frustrated with the airport, etc...but then a year or 2 later looking back on it we remember it much more fondly than we experienced it. If you didn't, there wouldn't be another one the following year.
since i'm omniscient, this must explain why i never have the desire to go on vacations

so when will this actual science be used in trials & so-called eyewitness testimony?

i watched a doc once about this super secret pedophile ring of the elite. i think it was based in OKC and of course nothing ever came of it. i think it's a case where the physical building at issue wasn't even close to being big enough to do what they were accused of
i think some people actually went to jail in OKC for it (and the fringe tried to turn it into a national story)
I know exactly what you are talking about and yes a few did get locked up.

oh it is
when i was in undergrad in my "Memory and Forgetting" class i think my prof was an expert who debunked FMS. if not he was part of the group who supported the experts who testified nationally
i found one of the scandals. McMartin Preschool Panic
even after the people got off based on completely made up claims by the kids, the parents STILL thought there was evidence of abuse. they will not give up the fight
quote:
In 1990, parents who believed their children had been abused at the preschool hired archeologist E. Gary Stickel to investigate the site. In May 1990, Stickel claimed he found evidence of tunnels, consistent with the children's accounts, under the McMartin Preschool using ground-penetrating radar.[37]
Others have disagreed with Stickel's conclusions. John Earle wrote in 1995 that the concrete slab floor was undisturbed except for a small patch where the sewer line was tapped into. Once the slab was removed, there was no sign of any materials to line or hold up any tunnels, and the concrete floor would have made it impossible for the defendants to fill in any tunnels once the abuse investigation began. The article concluded that disturbed soil under the slab was from the sewer line and construction fill buried under the slab before it was poured. Further, Earle noted that some fill from beneath the concrete slab was dated to the year 1940.[38]
W. Joseph Wyatt's 2002 report[39] concluded that the "tunnels" under the preschool were more plausibly explained as a rubbish pit used by the owners of the site before the preschool's construction in 1966. Materials found during the excavation included bottles, tin cans, plywood, inner tubes, as well as the former owner's old mail box. Only three small items found near the edge of the concrete slab were dated after 1966, which Wyatt suggested were most likely dragged into the pit by rats or other scavengers. Moreover, Wyatt speculated that Stickel's conclusions were colored by his collaboration with the parents of the McMartin children.

Yup. Conspiracy of Silence is the documentary. It was one of the crazier things I have ever seen. I mean...the people were so powerful and so many of them were involved. Crazy shite!
