We get PTO that we use for vacations/sick days/etc. You accrue it every pay period(I get around 7-8 hours a pay period...been there 10 years).
We also get paid holidays off throughout the year. Now that I'm salary I just get the day off. Those working shift work in my hospital will get 8 extra hours of pay on their check whether or not they work the holiday.
We also have ELB (extended leave bank). Been there 10 years and I have around 420 hours in my bank. You also accrue this each pay period and you only use it for FMLA type stuff. I used some of it when I sprained my foot years ago and couldn't work for a couple of weeks(along with my short term disability). If I ever do get pregnant I'll use mine for maternity leave.
Bereavement....you get 3 days if the death is out of state, 1 day local.
I also have short term disability...that will kick in if I miss a week or more of work.

Mental health sick day = suffering from a bout of depression, suffering from a panic attack, traveling to an appointment to see a doctor/psychiatrist for a suspected mental health issue.
Anything else is a vacation day.

America has some problems. Vacation time, mental health stigma, and maternity/paternity leave are a few of them

No. I have responsibilities. I only take off when I have to.

It may actually be 2 days honestly, never had to use the local. The two times I had to use it was when both of my grandparents passed away and I had to travel to LA for the funeral. I was working nights then and got 36 hours bereavement(3 shifts). And you can decide when the bereavement starts. The way my schedule was one of those times....I ended up with like 10 days off with my bereavement.
ETA: They are pretty lenient on what qualifies. One nurse used it because her uncle died(that she was not even close to). Another one used it when a good friend of hers died.

Currently I get 7 days vacation. I'm salary and if I miss a day because I'm sick or my son is sick it doesn't count against me, still get paid.
I also work plenty of hours and never call out sick, so it doesn't seem to matter.
When I worked in a nursing home I got 2 weeks as a lump sum check annually at my hire date. No sick days, 6 paid holidays, but usually had to work them.
My opinion on mental health days is that they should count as sick days, if those are exhausted then vacation, if those are exhausted then unpaid time off. I agree that a tired and distracted mind is inefficient, but if it isn't a clinical thing then i don't know what to tell you

Been full-time at my job for four years. At five years you get an extra 5 vacation days.
10 vacation days
6 sick days
2 floating holidays
3 bereavement days (found out about these last year when my dad died)
But we also get some good company holiday time --
MLK Day
President's Day
2 days for Memorial Day
2 days for the 4th
2 days for Labor Day
Veteran's Day
3 days for Thanksgiving
2 full weeks leading up the New Year
All told if I take every bit of my vacation and sick leave, etc. I could get close to a month and a half off. It's pretty nice.
