Type 2 Diabetes is not always about being overweight.

Correct. I'm thin by anyone's standards and I'm a type 2. Some of us are genetically inclined.

I look at it every day, well 5 days a week. My son eats it. Granted it isnt perfectly healthy but it is balanced, has fruit, vegetable, salad. Kids can be picky, so there is that aspect as well. Portion size is good as well.

A slice of pizza wont make you fat, but 3 trips to the buffet will.

You could do worse than 3 trips to a buffet to eat fat and protein-dense food with 0 carbs and sugar. At some point calories matter, but carbs/sugar matter more.

Food Commercials on tv are 95% crappy food.

Sure, that's definitely a source of dietary information. But also realize that your child is reading school textbooks and taking classes that require him/her to learn the government's food pyramid/tray/whatever the heck they're using these days. He or she is likely staring at a government dietary poster with every meal consumed in that cafeteria.

Further, the average consumer watches a Subway commercial and a Wendy's commercial. Based on his/her limited information, do you think the consumer chooses the Subway sandwich or the Hardee's bunless cheeseburger wrap as the best weight-loss option?

The answer to this will illustrate the honest conversations we need to be having about past and future dietary education. There's a growing body of literature suggesting that sugar may be the biggest culprit behind weight gain and cardiovascular disease, not fats.

Look into the ketosis family of diets for more information.

No...people are obese because they are lazy and don't care.

Burger King and McDonalds offer salads for the same price as a burger...people CHOOSE to eat the unhealthy burger.
