I have never just left without telling anyone...however, I do occasionally go on trips alone. most people know that I don't answer the phone much, but they can leave a message and I will get back to them later.

Yes, I'll go off hiking or fishing/kayaking and not tell anyone and turn my phone off, but I will leave a note on my kitchen table with my whereabouts just in case tshtf.

My GF is currently involved in a contentious succession battle with her siblings. Once it's over, she probably won't ever speak to them again. Sad situation, but I can't blame her after all that's gone on.
