If you don't like cruises. Don't go on one?

The wife and I will be taking an Alaska cruise next summer. Anyone have experience?
The Warden (no pics) took me on my very first cruise back in 05 to celebrate my college graduation.
We were on the Diamond Princess, which was less than a year old and built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. I think she's still in service somewhere on the east coast.
Anyway, had a great time. The Fjords were awesome with tons of waterfalls on both sides. Bald Eagles and Orcas galore. Being around other ships jockeying for position for a good view of the glacier the color of Windex was cool.
We went almost exactly 20 years ago...late September-early October.
The Salmon already did their thing and were starting to die off. Very sad to see. I would go a few weeks earlier.
An unexpected bonus was while we flying from SoCal to Seattle to the port we flew over Yosemite. Seeing the Yosemite valley from the air was pretty awesome.

A cruise ship has activities for all ages. The food is pretty good. You sleep in the same bed every night. You can travel to multiple destinations and only unpack one time. The ships are very accessible for older/disabled folks. Just avoid Carnival. I have had good experiences with Princess and Seabourne.

There's something for everyone on a cruise.. if you can't enjoy yourself that sounds more like a YOU problem

Read a story recently about how more people are paying for packages to live on cruise ships

Pretty much all of this. Princess is my regular line, but I'm considering Oceania or Seabourne.

Nice! Wifey and I are leaving for 5 weeks to Iguazu, Buenos Aires, 18 day Swan Hellenic Antarctica Cruise to S. Georgia, Falklands, and the Peninsula, and then back to land to a few places throughout Patagonia.
That will be an amazing cruise. Swan Hellenic is top notch!!! Enjoy yourself on this journey, it should be awesome

I want to be you when I grow up...
Don't wish for that, it will mean that you are old and crappy
Just kidding, I hope that you get to do whatever you want when you reach my age

In my opinion you cannot go wrong with Seabourn or Oceania for an excellent cruise experience

Go Princess or Norwegian if you want a peaceful and fun experience. Go Carnival if you want to catch herpes and watch fights.
