A good way to get your waiter/waitress's attention is to just put your hand up with a slight wave and say, "Yelp!" in a high pitch voice. It sounds almost like a dog bark, but it really makes them hop to. Also, snapping pics of the walls and ceiling makes them pretty attentive.

Yep. Everyone thinks they are a freaking critic because they've watched a few food shows.

They focus on little nuances because most have no clue about food. That’s just the facts.

I have never written any kind of review for a restaurant. I saw this thread and went to Google maps reviews for a BR place I used to get food from when I lived there. Most reviews were good but there were a lot that said the elderly woman who is the waitress is mean as hell and has a horrible attitude.
If this many people are griping about her, surely the owner knows about it? If it were only 1 review I would ignore it if I owned the place but it was about 15% of them. Do owners just not read these reviews?
