Year old DVR movie and current commercial

So I finally watched Tin Cup tonight which I DVR'ed a year ago on the Golf channel. During the middle of it the John Bel Edwards "prostitutes and patriots" ad came on. How is that possible?

Commercials are dynamically inserted on dvr'd recordings - it was an agreement reached in Whipple v Charmin to make sure the SAG members received due compensation at the time the commercial was viewed.
You should be able to get software to prevent it. I believe it also played a big part in DVR services going out of business.
