You are right and that’s the case for some of them.
But for the other half, the guys think they can get her if they “save” her from me. I was also really surprised by the amount of ugly girls that would step in vs. most other good looking girls that don’t bother. The ugly girls get really jealous and secretly wish guys were hitting on them instead, so they can reject them to boost their self-esteem and then go home with the last guy to hit on them at the end of the night.

Some are. Some aren’t. A few years back when I was single and getting started out at LSU, my friends and I would approach a group of girls all the time and we would get shut out fast. Then one dude in the group after months went by said to go for the “mother hen” and talk to her first, flirt a bit and whatnot. After that, we didn’t have any issues.
