Hell, some of them even tried to stay. There’s the story of the last German POW. Just left camp because he didn’t want to go back and made himself a nice home in the states. It was many, many years before he was discovered. I can’t remember it exactly but I think it’s called the last German POW in America on YouTube.

Probably the same food. We feed prisoners well.
Reading pow accounts they were most astonished by the large amounts of uneaten food we threw away.
A pow ate better than a German or especially Japanese soldier.
