my crack research seems to indicate that you must be talking about Terry Rooney
took UCF to 2 regionals
and then after leaving UCF... got hired onto the Alabama staff where he served as interim head coach for a bit
he's now the pitching coach for the Houston Cougars

Yep that's the guy. The a-hole AD systematically got rid of middle-older aged coaches (& assistants) who were white and replaced them with black coaches and assistants. Bergman got fricked over and it's funny to see that Rooney-2 regionals stat left the program no better than he found it.
Side note: Said AD got his arse handed to him in court after the one old white guy he left on staff (George O'Leary) had a player fall over and die during an offseason workout. He also got the school put on probation for losing institutional control over the coaches he hired. He was fired at that point but the prick should've stayed in Miami to begin with.
