I wasn’t watching WWE back when Punk was hot and don’t know his other indie stuff. I’ve seen the “Pipebomb” on YouTube, and it’s pretty good. But, other than that, I only have his AEW “run” to go by, and I just came away unimpressed by him in all facets.

I understand that, most of his AEW stuff was pretty meh except for some promos early on and it was all start and stop bc of the various injuries and breaks he took
If you had been watching back then all the male fans over 12 like me were were just so damn tired of Cena winning everything and acting the way he acted and Punk showed up and was exactly what people like us wanted. An Austin type face who wasn't trying to be a choir boy and didn't give a damn

I also think saying “Punk sucks” and being a contrarian in regards to him has become one of my gimmicks. Sort of like how I sometimes say things that only I’m not a totally normal human.
