I feel like they may have saved some for another Cena Orton match before Cenas done.

Cena’s storyline telegraphs the ending of every major event from here to December, and that’s not a good thing. It’s pissing the fan base off.

Tonight’s finish got major change-the-channel heat from an elderly fan in my life. A finish this bad put the heat not on the heel, but on the promotion. You never wanna do that.

Well he did promise to ruin wrestling for everyone

I’m kinda mixed on this. I think heel Cena is interesting and he’s dimes on the mic unloading on the crowd. But as user tylerdurden said, not having the Rock in the shadows occasionally pulling strings as the new Mr McMahon type character is a massive missed opportunity. Even if Rock had just shown up at WM to establish the threat, then he could have some errand boy delivering his messages when he’s not.

Imagine if Orton seemingly won clean tonight, only for some TKO representative of the Rock demanding the match be restarted lol. Cena would be getting MEGA heel heat atp. Instead we just get heel super Cena who’s moves no longer work but his belt shots are like getting hit by a semi truck

Predictable isn't necessarily bad. Been proven over and over

Others in this thread are already talking about how much they hate and they can't wait for him to lose the title

He's a heel champion, that's the point! You'll tune in bc you want to see him lose so badly

Now you or others may claim you won't watch but let's face it, you probably will

Congrats!

I saw my high school lost in the South State Championship in softball today. I don't think we've ever been close to winning anything in baseball.

What kinda undermines the bit, too, is that Paul and Steph aren’t totally removed from the kayfabe element. Within the narrative, I’m supposed to believe that a McMahon and Triple H are just cool with Cena declaring that he’s ending wresting as we know it? No authority figure is gonna be involved (whether Rock endorsing it or HHH challenging him)?

The whole mess of this all goes back to the rock. It get he was a catalyst to get us heal Cena but he could’ve not shown up at all and we still could’ve gotten that some other way. Instead we’re all disappointed because he’s not showing up so every finish is going to feel lame compared to having the final boss involved.

I’ve enjoyed heal Cena. I think it’s been fun. The wrestling leaves some to be desired but that was never the draw to Cena anyway.

Watching posters say they will never watch WWE again is like listening to a wrestler saying they're retiring.

It really was the way the turn was introduced. If it was just Cena going totally rogue out of nowhere and of his own choosing, they could’ve played it off. But he not only turned with the Rock’s blessing but in his service to exact revenge on Cody. The follow up to what was established has just been hamstrung (if not outright poor) writing.

Right now it’s just all “haha whatever” I’m sure. If it comes down to the end and Cena still has the belt I’m sure it’ll look a lot like the summer of punk mitb.

Also to your other point yea the turn, while phenomenally pulled off in terms of what was happening in the moment has just felt off as a result of rock disappearing and Cena being mia for weeks after.

So Cena showing signs of a change of heart, but Rtruth snaps him back out of it with that leading to a match at SNME. Ok….
