Actually, you are wrong. The US has been rapidly climbing the rankings of both overall COVID cases and number of new cases per day. Not very long ago, the US had about 10% of the new daily cases as Italy. Today the US is up to about 50% the number of daily cases as Italy. The US has moved up to 6th in overall number of cases and 4th in number of new cases per day. Unfortunately, we will continue to climb these rankings even if it takes some time to catch Italy. US should surpass Germany by tomorrow at the latest into 3rd for number of new cases per day and Spain into 2nd not long after that.
You do realize we’re a MUCH larger country than any of those right?

Did Japan get to count the cruise ship / Yokohama Bay version in their sick folks total and/or the crew members?
Or are those people just sort of left out there floating numberically around.
Two ended up back home in upper east Tennessee. A Dr. who was kept in quarantine because he tested positive came home about a week after his wife who was sick and confirmed Coronavirus and hospitalized ....cured....and sent home. They weren't in Tennessee when it happened- so who gets them?

Italy has always been prone to sickness. Just look at the numbers from past diseases like bubonic plague and Spanish flu.

Of course. However, all numbers (including per capita) for the US are trending towards Italy at an alarmingly fast rate.
