if "meaningful for society" meant:
50% of the human population died immediately, and
the survivors agreed on what "self respect" really meant, and
the survivors agreed that trash behavior warranted an immediate death sentence,
then yes, yes, I would die instantly.

I wouldn't say that I'm selfish, but my daughters would have to benefit from it somehow. After all, they are losing their father forever.
