shite like that stupid bitch is gonna cost those of us with WFH jobs our ability to do so, and will have to drive to the office - its 45 mins 1 way for the wife and I to go to the office (for her, it is a 10 hour shift with a 4 hour break in the middle).
irresponsible fricking morons should not frick it up for the responsible people.
Its a 6 hour flight for my wife. She has employees spread out all over the country. They make it work but they do not simply trust that they are doing the right thing...first of all they hire people who do the right thing in the office...and pay them handsomely so they get good applicants. They have a pop up that is random and have so long to respond. Miss that pop-up more than rarely and they have to 'splain why....and withstand enhanced verification. In 3 years it has happened twice....and she has 47 people telecommuting. It can be done, simply trusting any employee to do the right thing without some monitoring is insanity.

She will be replaced by AI shortly.
Not so sure about AI but pretty certain if your job in Miami can be done from Seattle there is no practical reason it can't be done from Mumbai....telecommuting is great but you can rest assured that it will lead to a lot of jobs that were previously considered impractical for offshoring to suddenly be very practical indeed....

An actual phone.

Nothing dumber than getting a call on Teams and then trying to answer, grabbing the headset, then have to do the stupid text authentification bullshite..
the company you work for must be doing it wrong. i receive phone calls the same way whether i'm at home or in the office (hybrid schedule). we have actually migrated away from phones and use teams for all internal/external communication. if my wife were to call my work number, it comes through teams.
also, my work/microsoft login works for everything we do within the microsoft ecosystem so no need for a text authentication. we have it, but it's usually only used when logging into a new device.
sharepoint
office
teams
outlook
headphones aren't really an issue for me since i'm always wearing them listening to music, youtube, podcasts, etc. while i work.

I’m stating the obvious, but this is extremely dumb. IT can see pretty easily if there’s actually a problem.
Not always, but even if so every IT department I've worked with just chalks anything like that up to user error, internet connection not being great at the time, or something else.

We switched from Google (Gmail, Google Meet, etc.) to Microsoft, and while I think Microsoft is a more robust product, we've run into a lot of performance issues and lag time.
Biggest issue is that, even if you use the web version of Teams/Outlook/Sharepoint/etc., there's so much buffering/lag. My current laptop was lightning fast until we made the switch to Microsoft (granted, it is a cheaper laptop) and it got bogged down with each individual app needed. We have to switch to higher end laptops now, which is fine but we had zero performance issues when using Google.
Also a pain when clients share Google docs/folders. Our old Google accounts were all canceled so they're sharing with an email address not tied to Google and we can't access.
Just now I clicked over to my Teams tab (we are a fully remote team, so we use Teams chat to communicate throughout the day) and I had to wait for it to fully refresh ("we are setting things up for you..."), click out of my Rakuten popup again, etc.
We didn't have any lag whatsoever flipping between G-Chat, Gmail, etc.
