I lived there for a year and I’m going to be honest, it was the most depressing year of my life.

a pitcher got traded to the Indians years ago, when he got to town he was being interviewed by the local media, he said something to the affect of "I have to look at this in a positive light, at least there'll be no more road trips to Cleveland"

Nice city actually. Go downtown, catch a football game. Lakefront is nice. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, USS Cod WWII submarine next to that. Christmas Story House is there also. Small town nearby is fun, Chagrin Falls. Should not be uber cold in November yet.

I spent 6 months in Cleveland and Akron. I didn't care for it either.

had dinner last night with a friend who is an engineer for Lockheed working on the F-35 currently based in England, young guy, kind of a rising star, they are offering him a position in Dayton as more or less head of ops, offering him to pretty much write his own ticket, the one stumbling block that's making him hesitate? the job is in Ohio

Skyline Chili son

They may have them in Cleveland but that's more of a Cincinnati thing. It's garbage.

It is pretty bad as a 'bowl" of chili as most of us eat it. They do the chili over spaghetti thing. However, their mini/4" coney dogs, with their chili, onions, mustard and a heavy handful of grated cheddar is a damn good dog.

The casino downtown is interesting

Understated. The vibe after midnight into the wee hours is populated with east cleveland drug thuggers playing with their nightly gains. Exiting the casino you will find a gaggle of hustlers/beggars. Daytimes, eaarly evenings can be bearable.

Won't be miserably cold until January (according to the locals).

Very true, heck I played a mid day 9 holes on Christmas eve a couple years ago. sunny and low 50's. However, Jan/Feb/March are brutal and depressing. Those 3 months you May have 8 clear sky days. Always grey and overcast.

Find and order Sturgeon. If it's wrapped in bacon all the better.
