A West Monroe woman is facing charges following a weekend incident involving a machete.
According to an arrest report for Sandra Leonard, 58, officers were dispatched to South Second Street in reference to a disturbance. A caller said there was going to be a murder and advised there was a "young girl in blue 'tripping' and there was a machete involved."
The caller and a woman in a blue shirt were separated when officers arrived. Leonard was identified as the caller and told officers her landlord told her to take pictures if anyone was sitting on the front porch of a specific house on Filhiol Avenue.
She said she saw a black woman with a baby sitting on the steps, and the woman became upset that Leonard was photographing her.
Leonard told officers the woman pulled a knife from a green purse and threatened her, so she went back in her home and grabbed a machete to protect herself before coming back outside and calling the West Monroe Police Department, the report states.
Leonard also said the woman followed her to her home with the knife.
According to the woman, she was sitting on the porch waiting for a friend moving into the building when Leonard approached and began taking pictures of her.
