Gotcha thats dope. Born and raised on the northshore been going to parades my whole life. Next year I'll be riding for the first time in Krewe D'etat.
Not too sure what to expect setting up wise, but my cousins say its nothing too crazy

Yeah, that didn’t sound right. I wish y’all had the opportunity to ride with another Krewe.

It's incredible. I used to love getting those newspapers they handed out as a kid.

Also, glassman, a friends father of mine is a poster here as well (wouldnt give away his username), but the last time i spoke to him, he (user)name dropped you lol

Why would you quote that part and just ignore the sentence prior to her saying that? Internet points?

Can't wait to see the sarcasm and satire with so many things having happened this year.

He said he was an actual friend of yours I believe, and next time I’m at Finns (live right by there so I’m there a good bit) just yell glassman and someone will be bound to turn around lol

Yeah man I can’t wait. It’s been something I’ve always wanted to experience since I was a kid, finally getting to do it seems surreal. Let’s hope I make it another trip around the sun

That won't be the first time.

ETA: My son is there now.

Lately Muses has devolved into a lot of riders throwing less stuff in order to try and find their friends in the crowd to hand out shoes. Not saying this doesn't happen in Nyx too, but it seems more pronounced in Muses.

Muses in general has a very high opinion of itself.

Edit: also Wednesday just feels more local, a lot more out-of-towners Thursday on.

Yes, it's common for a lot of hotels to book Thurs - Sun and Sun - Wed.

Get out of here with your virtue signaling. The world doesn't revolve around this lady. What happened to her is obviously tragic and unfortunate, but that doesn't mean no one gets to be disappointed that the parade was basically entirely canceled.

I learned that today and again I'm surprised. I often forget, due to your size, that you are still a relatively new krewe.

That being said, we do spend a lot of time and money to be part of The Greatest Free Show On Earth. Our float made it maybe 10 blocks from the start. It doesn’t feel fair.

No, look I understand, I think you have a right to be upset. I was saying, if you publically act upset, you are going to (unfairly) get blasted.

It's tragic, yes, but one stupid action by one stupid person affects a lot of people.

There are rumors swirling about the second half rolling behind Orpheus. But I’m not sure how successful that would be. I have half my throws but I abandoned my headdress. I’m not sure my mask made it. I probably wouldn’t ride if they rescheduled. There’s always next year!

We walked right past where the accident happened to go find people we knew on several of the later floats. No shame here

One of them sent a text thanking us since we were the only people she knew that she got to see. It was her first year riding too.

You’re telling me there is more money from out of towners? Doubtful. They just close membership off and run of mill locals aren’t invited. Instead have to go to some Kenner Krewe and parade there.

I know of two local krewes, one in Metairie, and one in the city (not Nyx) that basically offer an out of town package.

Show up day of parade, everything is included and loaded on the float for you. Costume, dues, food, drink, throws, etc.

If you want to come in town for the ball or other events, you just pay seperatae for those tickets.

Both of these krewes would be defunct if they didn't have this program.

I appreciated your point. And even mentioning that we were privately disappointed was troll bait.

I posted earlier that we just learned that the deceased is a relative of two Nyx riders. It’s a complicated and sad situation all around.
