Wouldn’t you rather roll uptown? Less crime? Nicer areas.

Mid City...

Only thing bad about that route, it gets a little shady between Galvez and Claiborne, like the uptown rout gets shady just before the express way on St Charles...

Canal is usually packed... The people out there can give two shits about Iris and Tucks, they want to see Endymion and are usually there early Saturday morning.

You can smell everything from people boiling crawfish, people with smokers on trailers to people frying chicken. It's literally like Mardi Gras day with one parade...

Endymion's floats are way too big for the uptown route...

People say that but Endymion has run the uptown route before. Now, a couple of the super-long floats might have to get cut into two sets of tandems. A and B, something like that.

The reason the city is pushing this is due to resources. Cops are a big reason, but also barricades, port o lets, etc.

We can tie two stories together here. After last night, the city is going to say, we need to barricade more of the uptown route, so, we need to take the barricades we use in mid-city and move them uptown.

It's to the point where if Endymion wants to stay in mid-city, they are probably going to have to put on the parade themselves, without many city resources at all.

Knights of Nemesis in Chalmette is the same way, much smaller of course, but it's a huge community festival.

I always walk with my kid's marching group in that parade. This year, at least five different people, none of whom I knew, asked me as I walked past if I wanted a beer.

It was to the point where my daughter, who I was walking next too, was like, geez dad, why does everyone want to give you a beer?

I've also been offered bbq chicken, snacks, etc

Yeah there are stories out there about car crash victims that are pinned and smashed but upper body is ok. They survive until getting released so sometimes loved ones can come say goodbye. Terrible situations.

Endymion has rolled on st Charles before... I watched it. The year it rolled back to back with Bacchus. Did they have some floats not roll that year?

I love how this thread has devolved into arguing about parade routes and totally losing the plot that a woman was squished to death

I know, I've ridden in both...

It was terrible. The only year I rode on the upper deck was one of those years, we were constantly ducking and diving from oak tree limbs.

The other year, a bunch of floats had trouble making the turn at Napoleon and St Charles. We got stuck making that turn. The figure head was a white rhino, its horn got hung up on a light pole. Thank God the driver knew what he was doing...

Yea, I noticed that. I think there just isn’t any more info to post on the accident yet. I wish I knew more though

Every year it's been on the uptown route has been a shite show. Their cleats aren't designed to make the tight turns and fit under the tree.
