Actually it looks like a relay may have burned up. The wire that burnt comes off the breaker In the handler, goes to this relay a CRR8-5, then a navy blue wire comes off that relay and goes to a circuit board which had the thermostat wires and transformer on it.

CRR8-5 is a rectifier with a 5 second time delay relay. That's about $5 if it was the cause of the short.

That I can't help you with since I haven't lived down there in about 15 years. I would check online if anything else. I know Warren has an online store.

Did you use eye test or did you flip it completely off and back on? Never trust eye test on a breaker bc it can be tripped but look like it is still on.
