WEST ALLIS, Wis. —
A New Berlin boy was resting Friday after being burned by a slide at Reservoir Park in West Allis that the family says "exploded."
Giuseppe Storniolo, 9, was left with second-degree burns after the slide spontaneously bubbled.
"I was about to get off and it just started to happen and it came up shaking," the boy said, his right leg in a full bandage. "I never saw any cracks on it, or no holes. But -- I don't know what happened."
Mayor Dan Devine said city officials immediately got in touch with the slide's manufacturer, Landscape Structures, to find out what may have gone wrong.
"I have never seen -- and I don't know of anybody who has seen anything like that before," he said.
Asked about the incident, a Landscape Structures spokesperson said that company officials were aware of the situation and were investigating what happened.
"The well-being of those who use our playground equipment is our top priority," the spokesperson said.

The real crazy part of this story is a public park actually had something as "dangerous" as a slide.
