I won a truck a few years ago in a drawing. Not technically a raffle. The taxes were not as bad as I thought. A $40k truck for taxes? Definitely a good deal.

Won a 21ft brand new bass boat from a raffle.
Surprised I had won a prize that valuable.
Paid taxes and sold it.

I have not participated personally, but get ads from Dreamgiveaway on tigerdroppings quite a bit, and have perused the various raffles they have. I'm not a car guy, but some of the classic muscle cars look cool.
One of their promotions came up-- unsurprisingly-- when I entered this thread.

Supposedly, they work with a variety of charities and offer to pay a good bit of the taxes for winners, which isn't a bad deal for a $3 ticket. Odds are very low, of course, as they run each raffle for what seems like a year. But they do appear to raffle off at least one or two vehicles a month.
Looks like tomorrow is the last day to try and win a tacky looking Supra. I find some of the others-- like the old Vettes-- more tempting.

I won an alarm system FOR my car. That's as close as I ever got to winning a car.

My mom won a Dodge Charger before I was born from a radio station in Shreveport. This was before I was born in 1969 I believe.
Was that before you were born? Just wondering.

I once won a t-shirt that didnt survive its first wash. Some say thats just as good as a car but everyone else would say those people are crazy.
At another time, a vending machine gave me two candy bars for the price of one.
