Others have said it, but it doesn't take AI to fool people. People are fooled all the time - look at the lies the MSM has repeated about Trump "good people on both sides, inject bleach", etc. No AI involved, just old fashioned lying. Photoshop w/o AI has fooled many.
Selective editing of audio:
Original audio:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy is he white, black, or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note that he was asked if the suspect was black.
Edited audio (just cuts, no special technology, no AI):
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he's up to no good, he looks black.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
What I think we are going to need, is some sort of digital signature or something to indicate that the audio/video is not edited, it is raw from the source. Not sure that is possible.
